Chevy Announces Long-Awaited Convertible Camaro

Being fans of the classic Chevy Camaro, we were interested to learn that the car manufacturer has revealed pictures of the production model of the long-delayed 2011 Camaro Convertible on Facebook last Friday. GM has been teasing fans with the possibility of the Convertible since the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, and the official Chevy Camaro Facebook page posted a teaser photo album entitled “Anything about this Camaro look different to you?” back in April of this year.

The new Convertible looks strikingly similar to the concept model shown at the aforementioned 2007 Detroit Auto Show, and is nearly identical to the Neiman Marcus edition. According to Motortrend, both models feature the same five-spoke chrome wheels that are bolted to the Camaro coupe. While the concept models featured a silver windshield surround, it is now body-colored.

In the description of the new Camaro on Facebook, Chevy writes, “The 21st century rebirth of the Chevrolet Camaro will open a new chapter when the Convertible hits the scene in early 2011.” The new Convertible will come standard with 312 horsepower in the Coupe model, with Direct Injected V6 engine. The legendary SS model will feature a 6.2-liter V8 engine. While GM has yet to announce full powertrain specs, buyers should expect either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission with either the V6 or V8 engines. Chevrolet’s Facebook page states that the new Convertible will start at $30,000 and will begin arriving at dealers in February 2011.

At Danko Reproductions, we love the styling and aggressive stance of the head-turning Chevrolet Camaro. We offer spoilers, vents, and front and rear wheel flare ground effects for the 1970 to 1981 Camaro Z28 models, like the 1978 Camaro SS (old school custom emblems, decals and accessories are also available).
